Food Branding

Food Branding

I’m 10,000 hours into my hand lettering technique and my favorite thing to do with it is branding and illustration for food businesses.

Saint Archer / Coffee & Tea Collective

Coffee & Tea Collective was in the middle of a collaboration with Saint Archer and they wanted to do something special with the resulting can.

Raspberry, coffee, and tea. Sounds like a shopping list to me.

I illustrated and designed this can using hand painted grocery store signs as reference.

Water Pig

Randy Liedtke runs a pop-up restaurant in Los Angeles that serves two things:

Barbecue Brisket Sandwiches and Celery Soda.

He needed a simple branding system that could tie his two offerings together in a delightful way.

I created this type treatment and simple set of characters.

Namu Stonepot

My friends at Namu Gaji had just opened a fast casual concept in San Francisco and very quickly realized that delivery was going to be a big part of their business.

The problem was that they couldn’t send out every order in sizzling pot made out of stone.

So they wanted to find a fun way to teach people how to eat their “stone”pot at home.

I made them this to-go bag.

Food & Company

I’ve been working with Maya & Bing at Food & Company in Tokyo since they opened in 2015.

Over the years, we’ve made bags, mugs, wrapping paper, posters, holiday cards, and signage.

Here’s a small sampling of the work we’ve done together.

Roaring Pines

I branded and made plenty of merch for Roaring Pines, a soda shop in Richmond, VA.

All You Can Eat Press

Yuki makes delightful food maps that will take you on food-specific tours of cities all over the world.

For the holiday season, she wanted a way to bring her three favorite NYC maps–pizza, diner, burger–together in one package.

So, I made her some wrapping paper.

Joanie’s Homemade

Joanie’s Homemade is a small jarred goods company in Vermont.

Also, Joanie is my mom.

Yelling About Paté

Karl Hess is a comedian. Joel Miller is a chef. Together, they talk about a food. And it’s funny.

And they needed a logo.

Amuse Bouche

Karl Hess transitioned his interest in food from a podcast to a live show.

Amuse Bouche brought comedians and chefs together for a delicious night of comedy.
